Abby K

Abby K draws upon many influences in her music from her childhood days in Kentucky and conveniently short-hands her music as "Heart-Rock".

After two decades in the Windy City, where she was exposed to the extremes of weather and musical influences, she has moved her act to Seattle where she performs regularly, including Seattle's NW FolkLife Festival in 2017 and 2019.

So, when it all comes together, what do you get? Honesty. Clarity. Harmony. Beauty. Abby’s sound is as green, lush and dramatic as the Pacific Northwest. Her melodies are instantly hummable and imminently memorable, and her stories will hit you smack dab in the heart.

Postponed, date TBD: Croaker

Croaker makes acoustic music with new-grass attitude, old-time instruments and space-age effects. On a good night, traditional tunes keep company with classic rock favorites and improvised gems. The band brings a wide range of influences to bear when interpreting existing music or writing their own songs. Jazz, cajun and klezmer music are all part of the mix. This seasoned trio includes Kim Thal on violin, Eric Frith on acoustic and electric guitar, and Andre Sapp on mandolin and guitar. As Pink Floyd once said, “Blind Faith is better with a dash of Sugaree”

Postponed, date TBDMichael Whitmore

Michael Whitmore is a nylon string guitarist, occasional vocalist, & leader/composer for the band Some’tet. He tends towards the frayed edges of jazz -- post-jazz, nu-jazz, free-jazz, with a hint of samba.

A veteran of the Los Angeles new music scene, he moved to the Northwest a decade ago. Highlights in a long career include a NEA California Composers Grant, dozens of album & soundtrack credits as a leader, sideman or collaborator, including a project composing music for Pulitzer Prize winning poet Franz Wright. He is an author, music historian, very often a DJ, & always a record collector.

Currently he hosts two radio shows on Vashon’s KVSH 101.9FM. Greatest influences to his distinctive guitar style include Baden Powell, Lenny Breau, Sonny Sharrock, Lionel Loueke, John Stowell & Jon Abercrombie. Other inspirations include Brigitte Fontaine, McCoy Tyner & Mark Hollis.
